Kjell Waloen has more than 20 years of experience in the automotive industry, working for Ford Motor Company, Volvo Cars, and Polestar. He has been part of several vehicle development projects, including the Volvo S90 and XC60 models, as well as Polestar’s EV cars.
His background is mainly in manufacturing, where he has been Production Manager for Ford Transit (Belgium), Lean Transition Manager at Halewood (UK) and Manufacturing Strategy Developer for Ford of Europe (Germany). He was a key force behind Volvo Cars’ industrialization in China for five years (living there for three) and lately he’s been the VP of Purchasing and Manufacturing at Polestar (Volvo’s EV brand). He has a masters degree in Mechanical Engineering from Norway’s Institute of Technology and an MBA from INSEAD, France. Before these studies he was a member of the Norwegian National Alpine Ski Team for 6 years.
Together with fellow co-founder Carl-Magnus Norden, they aim to develop Volta Trucks to be the next generation of Heavy Goods Vehicles: not only fully electric but also the world’s safest.
